US

Founded in the early 1970’s, ADVANCE is a private non-profit organization that supports more than 160 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Brookings and surrounding communities.  We promote self-direction through person-centered plans and offer a wide range of services to support people at home, work, and in their communities. Our team is committed to helping individuals achieve their desired life outcomes. We actively foster community connections, volunteer engagements, and educational experiences, all aimed at fulfilling our mission to "offer opportunities for people to live their lives to the fullest."

participated in South Dakota's Customized Employment pilot program in 2019.  He achieved his Customized Employment certification the same year.  He served eight years on the Brookings Committee for People with Disabilities, chairs the Brookings NDEAM committee, served on USD’s Center for Disabilities Committee Advisory Committee for seven years, and the State of South Dakota's Employment First Alliance for five years.  Matt helped start the SDSU Brookings Project SEARCH program and is still heavily involved in the program's operation.  Matt has overseen over 1500 supported employment cases since 2008. He is recognized for his contributions to the field of vocational services by South Dakota’s RehabACTion and has been recognized with three State awards.

Mental Health Counseling and achieving certification as a Rehabilitation Counselor. Ramona briefly worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for South Dakota Service to the Blind and Visually Impaired before returning to Advance in 2019 to be the Coordinator for the Young Adult Transitions program. In 2022, Ramona was promoted to her current position as the Director of Admissions and Support Services. Outside of work, Ramona enjoys spending time with her husband, Anthony, and three kids.

2016. In March of 2024, she returned to Advance as the Director of Residential and Medical Services. She has a Bachelor's Degree from SDSU with a major in Sociology and minor in Psychology. Nicole and her husband Ross live outside of Elkton with four children, Allie, Sydney, Lincoln, and Evander.
